Indian Wedding Photographer Captures Navraj & Navpreet’s Traditional Wedding at Intercontinental O2
As an Indian wedding photographer based in London, it is pretty refreshing to see the culture and traditions of marriage being followed even in a foreign land. Navraj and Navpreet had a few different wedding festivities; from a pre-wedding party to the reception.
Bride and Groom Solo Portraits
The Indian couple decided to get married at the Gravesend Gurdwara and hosted 700 guests. The day kicked off with Navraj getting ready at The Coach House, Forest Ridge, Sunningdale. His turban and sherwani were from Pughvala. He also carried a bright red rumaal, which matched his bride’s wedding outfit perfectly.
There were 2 little groomsmen who coordinated their outfits with Navraj and got ready alongside him.
At the same time, Navpreet was getting her bridal makeup done from Lubna Rafiq who did a tremendous job. The bride wore a beautiful red lehenga choli that was adorned with exquisite embellishments throughout. Her makeup and hair were sleek, which complimented the tones of her dress perfectly.
She had 4 bridesmaids who wore peach-colored matching Indian dresses.
The Sikh Wedding Reception
A little after 9 am, the baraat arrived in full force at the Gurdwara, with dhols and trumpets being played loudly.
Soon after, the bride’s family also arrived at the location and it was time for the Milni Ceremony, which is basically a Sikh tradition that means “introductions”. The senior men of the family exchange formal introductions during this ceremony. Being an Indian wedding photographer, we had to spend some extra time capturing these sweet moments.
After some prayers by the groom and the guests, the bride entered the Gurdwara, accompanied by all the father figures in her life.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and filled with lots of emotions. The couple tied their rumaals together and performed 7 rounds around the sacred fire.
Afterward, they enjoyed a little portrait session and then it was time to head over to the reception.
The Sikh Wedding Reception
The reception took place at InterContinental London – The O2. It is a spectacular place to hold a grand reception. The catering and decor was done by Ragamamas; the food was decked out beautifully on the tables and looked mouthwatering.
The guests enjoyed a few welcome drinks and then entered the main room to enjoy the starters. Once everyone was done with that, it was time for Navraj and Navpreet to make an entrance. They were followed by elite drummers. Navraj changed into a black tuxedo for his reception, while Navpreet kept on the same outfit but styled the dupatta on her shoulders.
The white, tiered wedding cake looked spectacular and stood tall on its own. The newly married couple had a cake-cutting ceremony with their parents and siblings, which was a delight to capture as an Indian wedding photographer.
Just before it was dinner time, Navraj and Navpreet got on the dance floor and enjoyed their first dance. They both couldn’t stop smiling at each other; it was a beautiful sight.
Once the dinner was over, it was time to get the party started! All the guests joined the couple on the dance floor, and we witnessed some amazing dance moves by all the Punjabis. Kulwinder Billa was the singer at the reception, and he really knew how to make sure everyone stayed on the dance floor all night long.
Navpreet’s Doli
It was finally time for Navpreet’s doli, which is quite an emotional time for the bride and her family. It was filled with tears and lots of hugs.
Once the Indian couple reached the groom’s house, they were greeted with the Paani Vaar ceremony. It symbolizes the happiness in the wedding house at the arrival of a new family member.
There were also a few other traditional ceremonies that took place at the groom’s house; overall the evening was filled with lots of laughter and smiles.
We also managed to capture some Indian couple wedding portraits before the reception, which turned out regal.
